14k Yellow Gold and Black Onyx Beads, Suicide Demon Murder Death Worn Bracelet, 1955

Just over twenty-two and a half years ago we were called to do an estate that had been closed up for seventeen years!
The Voodoo Estate!
This type of call usually gets us excited as they are a treasure trove. Located here in Florida, there was no electricity or running water so we rigged our own lighting and in we went. If you have ever seen the Adams Family you will have some idea as to what we were greeted with! Then the attorney handling the liquidation gave us some background. The estate had belonged to an alleged powerful Voodoo Priestess/JooJoo Exorcist, grand daughter of a Marie Laveau and favored daughter of a Marie Glapion. These names meant nothing to us, but the late night talk of Voodoo and exorcism in the old mansion was enough to make us decide to spend the night in a hotel and return in the morning to assess the estate. The rest is history. Our research has shown that this woman was what she claimed and was indeed descended from a long line of well known Vodoun family originating in New Orleans in the early 1800's. We were pretty unnerved by this until we discovered they were also devout Catholics! Although I have to admit this was unlike any Catholic home we have ever been in and some of the items found inside were a little more than disturbing. There was no feeling of dread or unwelcome in the mansion, however there was quite a bit of contraband and other items we can or will not sell here. This is one of a few pieces from this estate we will be listing this week, so check our other items. We will, upon the new guardian's request, issue a named Letter of Authenticity with each piece from this estate, complying with the terms set forth to us by the estate's attorney. Some Back Story Her inventory tells us this is one of a relatively small number of items she claims to have "harvested from those who met death at the hands of the Demon of Desperation," claiming to have had items worn by suicide and murder/suicide victims collected for her. She preferred these pieces be taken from the bodies at the death scene and claims her favored source for these were police, mortuary and ambulance drivers. Her journals tell of invoking "suicide demons" through these "death worn" pieces. She claims there are a number of these demons; "soul harvesters, like worker ants, blind in their task of invoking delusion, lies, fear and a temperament favorable to cause no due concern upon the death of the host." She also writes: "each death and minion leave a different energy signature. Therefore it is best to invoke on an individual basis unless sure each talisman is touched by the same creature. Caution is urged in this as one could easily be overwhelmed by their numbers." She also notes; "death worn always reeks of the living imprint." As to the original owner, her journaled inventory notes of this bracelet and a ring as being "recovered from the body of a female murder victim in a crime of passion, murder and suicide." Although she does not identify her she apparently had access to the coroner's report which she notes as describing her as "a forty one year old Caucasian woman - gunshot wound to the heart." This entry is dated June of 1955. ~!~ This is alleged to be the bracelet and ring photographed on the woman's left hand shown below. In our collective humble opinions, the photo is inconclusive. It does however provide some provenance, and our experience with some of the artifacts from this estate have given credence to her claims. This is a copy of the original crime scene photo which will be printed on your LOA.
~!~ Unfortunately the woman is not named and we have not been able to find the copy of the coroner's report she purports to have had. She does note of what she was able to garner from the bracelet in another entry that reads; "This was a pair of demons at work here and their specialty is lover's murder suicide. When possessed, the woman will become openly flirtatious and promiscuous in a manner meant to infuriate her spouse. The male will intermittently display obsessive jealous rage and loving affection." She also goes on to write, "these are powerful minions of evil that I have encountered before." Real or imagined, we certainly understand why she was as feared & respected as she was. The Bracelet, Components and Commentary This suicide demon collection consisted of thirty four individual pieces which consisted of mostly jewelry, that was found and recovered from a safe in a locked unoccupied guest room.
Examination reveals a nicely made bracelet consisting of round black onyx beads, round yellow gold beads and filigree box clasp strung on braided black silk.
The Onyx
There are twenty-seven, 6.35 mm round black onyx beads of fine grind and deep black color.
She writes of this onyx as, "having received Kali blessings and being used in blood offering magic which has made this a powerful invocation tool for any wrathful aspect of the Goddess, but most compatible to Kali. As such, it is a ward against spells, but does manifest some thought provoking nightmares that have caused depression in the uninitiated."

The Gold
Although silver was her usual metal of choice, sometimes, as in this case, gold was used and she notes, "Gold transmits and conducts energies extremely well. It balances these energy fields and is beneficial in the third eye and crown meditations. It removes negative energies and brings in the positive from the stones it is with. It is a mineral of spirituality, understanding and attunement." The one hundred and six, 3 mm round 14k gold round gold beads along with the filigree box clasp have been strung on plaited black silk to form this bracelet measuring approximately 7 3/4" in length and weighing 11.2 grams. The clasp is marked 14KG, with no maker's or assay marks and all test as 14k Gold Standard. It is certainly a nicely aged vintage bracelet with an with an extraordinary provenance that is much nicer than our photographer has been able to depict. ~~ ~ ~~ We have been contacted and visited by a number of people who were interested in the items from this estate since our first batch was listed. Among the buyers have been known psychics and practitioners. More than one, after adorning themselves or handling their purchase, stated "this is a woman of power!" Many have reported dream contacts and psychic phenomenon after receiving items from this estate. Unusual, authentic Voodoo Priestess Estate piece and at a bargain price! This is truly a rare opportunity to own anything with attributes to this estate. The majority of this estate is now gone. Most of what we had left, and it was considerable, has been split up and sold to a couple of private, foreign collector practitioners and will never be available to the public again. We made the decision to do this as we have had some pretty strange visits from even stranger individuals and there have been enough unexplained phenomenon going on in the warehouse where her things were kept that many of our employees refused to go in there. The pieces offered and sold here are some of the few remaining pieces that will ever be offered to the public. Nice addition to any collection, altar, wardrobe or decor, displays really well. Really doesn't get any better than this. There are 9 photographs below to tell the rest of this tale. Buyer to pay $0.00 for Insured USPS Ground Advantage Mail with Tracking, handling and lagniappe. Rest assured your bracelet will be carefully packed to withstand the onslaught of the most deranged of Postal Workers.
