The Holster
The holster was recently rescued from a box of holsters Uncle Waddy shelved years ago. Fortunately this is climate controlled storage and the holster is supple, with no signs of damage or repair.
The holster is unlined, hand border stamped and fits the 1858 Remington perfectly as shown. Also shown with a Model P Colt, a Ruger Vaquero die cast and a Uberti Cattleman. Although tight and not deep seated in the pouch these guns will easily fit perfectly by wetting the holster down before jamming the gun in and hand caressing it around the gun for a perfect fit. Cowboys were known to dunk their new holster in the watering trough and sticking their well oiled gun in it. We prefer to use the aluminum die casts by Duncan and have them to fit most guns. We will be glad to do this for you at a nominal charge, or you can easily do this yourself by oiling the gun and generously wrapping it in plastic wrap, such as Saran wrap. Let the holster air dry and finish up with a light coat or two of olive oil and you're good to go.
Fits up to an 8" barrel.
The holster is cut with an open toe to allow dirt and debris to fall through.
This is an authentic design that originated with the saddle makers of the Cheyenne Wyoming Territory in the early 1870's and remained popular with cowboys into the 1920's.
